Not used in the US market. It may be possible to off-line order but I have no idea what the cost would be.

Seems like you could make one for next to nothing.

all the home made hood props I have seen have been something like a 2x4 or broom stick cut to length and have had a bad habit of dropping the hood on the owner.

of course we are cruiser owners so would be something better, bend up some .25" or .315 round stock to aproximate the propper prop, you could get the stoe clip from another Toyota in the junk yard

but if we can get the real deal for a decnt price might be worth getting, never know when the gas struts will go, as these 80's get older it will be a problem.

if i have the gumption someday I will see if one from a 60 will fit.......

Agreed.

Damn,
you folks are gooooood....I'm trying to make my truck last throught the end of the week....And you guys are on to hood props....What else you got in mind? For me a hockey stick or similar cob job would be done. I'm just too darn cheap to spend money on a hood stick....That is if I end up needing one......I kind of like the old land rover design that is hinged...'course if yer tyre's on the bonnet its a whole different crickety jimmy

Wouldn't it just be easier to get new struts?

That's what i was thinking   .....

They shouldn't wear out very quickly, hell mine are 10 years old and going strong.

I tried the hood prop rod from our 62 today. It works fine and fits properly on the core support when stowed.

I'm going to go ahead and get one used from a 60/62 and get the clip and grommet new. My struts are weak in the winter and probably won't make it much longer.

Actually, since the parts are pretty cheap. I'm just going to go new....

53451‑90A00 ROD, HOOD SUPPORT FJ62 List $17.13
90480‑15002 GROMMET (FOR HOOD SUPPORT ROD) FJ62 List $2.22
53452‑90351 HOLDER, HOOD STAY FJ62 List $4.95

For <25 bucks, I can't afford to spend the time looking for one....

Cheers,
Dave

Works great....

Another guy did a quick write up.

My hood prop is a 2x4 with "bonnet board" carved into it by someone who thinks they're funny. Works great for now...
