FJC Lug nut question and pics

Hi All,

I am installing a set of FJ Cruiser steel wheels in my 80. My question is, and yes I did search but did not see what I was looking for, are the lug nuts for the FJC steelies flat or conical?

Thanks

Pete

Found it.......they are conical

Yup.

Post pics when you are done. I am too lazy to switch mine over to see how it looks... :)

I will post up pics soon

They are getting installed as we speak with Michelin LTX AT2 - 265/70/17

Nothing over the top, but they will work nice out here in Ohio and the occasional trip off-highway

Well I installed the new FJC wheels and fresh Michelin's today.

Needless to say I am very happy with the way things turned out. These new Michelin LTX AT2's are great tires, quiet and so smooth. For my uses they will work perfect.

Here are a couple of pictures, seeing that folks from time to time want to see what this wheels look like on a rig. I apologize for the grainy cell phone pics.

I also removed to the running boards which really made a big difference in the way she looks.

Since the FJC wheels are too narrow and do not have the correct offset, how did you compensate for it?

I always thought the offset was the same on those? I run mine without spacers...

All you need to do is look at the vehicle end-on and you will see that it looks like one of those service trucks that drive on railroad tracks. The stance is too narrow.

Phil...I am was under the same impression as you, thinking that they had the same off-set.......

Dan...I drive a railroad service truck for a living and wanted to feel more at home when I was in my 80......

Alright kidding aside I may have to get some spacers in there. But for now I am just going to drive.

How many out there are running there FJC steelies without spacers?

Actually the backspace is the same but since they are an inch narrower you have narrowed your stance by two inches. You will not be a big fan of that in off-camber situations.

The stock 80 wheel is "0" offset, the tundra wheel is a negative offset.

I've been running my FJC Steelies w/ 285/70-17 BFG M/Ts for a while and I don't mind that its a bit narrower, but I can see your concern about off-camber situations. The MTs are fairly wide (as wide as I could go with this wheel per the tire shop), so I don't notice it that much.

grizzlygibbs

I personally have no idea on that particular set of wheels. However they are very sharp!

I am sure you could make them work. Do a search and you may find something.

BTW....Dan,

I don't really drive a railroad service truck. Although it would be cool not to ever have to worry about steering.

I am a geologist.
