So say I had the ability to get a couple York Compressors (10ci model - the big one) - how many of you would be interesting in buying them at $65 a pop + shipping?

These would NOT be reconditioned or anything, but I would ensure they worked according to the following tests:

1. Making sure the pulley spins freely when clutch is disengaged.

2. Ensure clutch engagement by hooking up power to the compressor and making sure the clutch locks properly.

3. Ensure proper compressor operation by turning pulley with clutch locked and ensure it pushes/sucks air and rotates properly.

Don't know how many I could get but I'm probably making a trip to where I got mine in a couple weeks and I thought you guys might be interested.

Phil

Wow... more peeps want them! I will have to make another run next weekend. If you didn't get PM, they are all sold. Hopefully the junkyard I go to can continue stocking new 80's Volvos!

Keep posting up if you want them... I'll try and get you guys as many as I can!

Looking like I might be getting an 80 so please count me in and can I pick up??? Save some on shipping???

i'm in
for sure
PM me as to where to paypal if you are still doing this...

glad you made this post as i've been kicking around the OBA idea for a little while. My issue with the york is the oil it pukes. I do not want a system where i have to have inline filters/catch cans and other items to keep oil out of my air system. I also don't want to have to keep dumping oil into the system.

So, what say you who have the york and are dealing with the oil issues that have been brought up in other threads about the york?

I've only been running the one on my Early Bronco for about a month now. But...the testing I did prior to installing it seemed to suggest that oil level (kept on the low side) and engine rpm (just off idle) resulted in acceptable levels of oil discharge.

I did the "oil mod" on mine...and it does help some, but not a lot IMO. Engine rpm seemed to have the greatest effect. Anything over 1200 rpm started the compressor really spewing oil. "Idle" was the best and 800-900 wasn't bad.

They make quite a bit of air at 600-800 rpm, it doesn't take long to fill my tank and cycle off. That is the benefit of using the 210 (10 cu. in) model over the smaller ones.

Flint, thanks for the feedback. I'm really concerned about the oil. I know just to get to the trail i will be turning over 1200 rpm. Then some crawling in low range i'll be at that again.

This stinks because now i'm starting to lean towards an electric pump set-up which will be more spendy then this.

Just don't turn it on until you need it...and only run it as long as you need to. I have mine on a "Switch" inside the cab (fused).

It only runs when I switch it on.

You have complete control over when it does and doesn't run with a dash switch. I haven't tried airing up a tire yet....but I doubt it would take more than a couple of minutes to reach 40 psi. (each) mine are 235-85/R16 on the Bronco.

yes I live in Simi Valley and work in Santa Monica - whichever works for you is fine. We can figure the logistics out once I grab another set!

Thanks,
Phil

All,

I am still doing this - planning to go again Saturday morning to grab some more. Please let me know if you are interested. This is the current list I have (in order of who claimed they wanted one):

shawn
NicksFJ40 (local pickup)
Elijah
calfj60 (local pickup)
peepers

I'll let you each know by PM once I have one for you! Just be patient!

PS - anyone that is buying one - head over to this thread for info on purchasing a 1FZ-FE mounting bracket kit from Lumpdog. Slee also sells one at their website.

Thanks,
Phil

Flint, i thought that as long as the motor was running it was pumping? Is that not the case? I figured since it was belt driven and all.....

This is why you have an electric clutch. When the clutch is turned off, the pulley spins freely and separately from the compressor - it only spins the compressor when activated.
