I have switched from a land cruiser with gm drivetrain to an ALL toyota 85 4runner.

so....

I am trying to minimize my trail tools and it appears that I just need metric sockets to 19 mm

+ hub socket
+ pinion/tcase socket ???mm

less tools = less weight :D

am I missing something here??

Yep, that sounds about right. You'll find that tons of bolts use either a 14mm or a 17mm. You can practically build a whole truck using those two sizes.

Don't forget a socket that fits your drain plugs, 'cause rocks will spin them loose. I'm not sure what the correct size is, but a 15/16" seems to work perfectly.

i carry all my tools with me. put im a packrat.
10,12,1417mm will take care of most of the truck.
pinion nuts are 1 1/8. dont know what metric sizes are, 32mm?
use a hammer and flat screwdriver for the hub nut, otherwise its a 56mm.
diff/trans/tranfer are 24mm
make sure to carry both sockets and wrenches.
and an extension. without a 14mm socket and extension, with wrench, the rear driveshaft flange is a PITA to remove.

Don't forget:

GearWrenches
brass drift
brake line flare wrench (10mm)
Prybar
hammer
Small voltmeter, or at least a test light
