I had the pleasure of fixing a power mirror switch today. I could get no response out of the switch, neither mirror would move at all.
The panel pulls out of the arm rest easily, start prying up at the front. I tested the plug at the mirror for power and ground, and they were good, so the problem was in the switch...
The switch came apart easy enough, I used a small pointy hook tool I had to pry the bottom off the switch. The insides were corroded really bad. So I sanded down all the copper contacts and stretched out a couple of the rusted off (and thus too short) tiny springs under the contacts.
After taking it back apart a few times I had it all working except the mirror-right function on either mirror. The problem is the copper on the circuit board was eroded away right there. I may pull it out again and try to solder some to make the contact bigger, but for now it works 75%...
My personal motto: If it doesn't work now, it's not going to work less if I take it apart.
