Another 85 FJ60 Build---Blue #2?

I was down out the dam at Flaming Gorge.. Utah/Wyoming area. A guy comes up to me and asks if I'd be interested in selling " OLE BLUE ".. SURE if the money is right.

We talked, test drove offroad and highway, and negotiated a price. We exchanged info and I was off back to the house.

A few weeks went by and this guy calls and asks if I'm still interested in selling?? I said yes and he says he can come up the next day with his trailer and pick up " OLE BLUE ".. I told him he didn't need a trailer he could drive BLUE anywhere.

But, anyway... He shows up to my house with another rusted 60 on his trailer with body parts stuffed in the back.. I just figure he's found another project on the way here.

He said "Have I got a deal for you!" OH BOY! I've heard that before. Said he was a grand short on the agreed price but has this to exchange for the price difference. Had title, complete quarters, drivers fender, 4 doors, complete motor, transmission, and transfer case, and a Safari snorkel "new in the box".

I inspected the 60, stock as could be, and asked a few questions. He said that the engine ran rough and wouldn't stay running. Transmission and four wheel drive worked great. Rust in all the usual spots and then some. Interior was in fair shape.. SURE I'M IN for the price difference.

Off load all his stuff in the shop and loaded "Ole Blue" on his trailer.

So, the work and addiction starts ALL OVER!! WOOHOO!

It's been a few weeks since I started so I'll play catch up on pics in the next few posts to come..

All in all I'm excited to get rolling down the roads again..

Here is the new Blue #2

Charlie is ready for a ride!

Rocker roughed in and front fender fitted up.. Seat is from a S80 series Volvo, I borrowed from a friend across town for fitment. I had a set of S40 seats in my last ride and liked them very much.. Very similar fit but ALOT of fab needed to make these work.

In process of building a roof rack and gutter mounts. I am pretty well caught up on my progress over the past 2 months. But, unfortunately I start a new project for work and it will take up a majority of my time. I'll post updates as they get completed.

Also, the motor ran rough and died quite frequently. I drained the tank, replaced fuel filter, carb adjusments per FSM, plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. Runs pretty **** good now. Gotta love the inline 6.

Did a few other things that I didn't take pics of.. 90# gas shocks for hood, glove box grab handle, etc..

Thanks to all the guys here that have helped me out with questions and parts from the classifieds.

snow, Thanks, It's been a few years since I did any major body/metal work. It took me a day or two to get back into it. Just take your time, get a good line on the metal and keep at it. I've probably got close to 450 hours in on this 60 now in the past 2 months. This is a catch up thread so things will go slower on the forum updates now.

Snow, quarter panels are cut out patch panels from another cruiser the guy supplied in the deal. I just cut what I needed and welded in. Rocker panels, floor, and other areas are all 16 or 18 gauge sheet from the local steel supply.
