If you still have the end piece that pokes into the core support, you can fab up an intake from stuff at most hardware stores. But the stock intake hose is a clean setup - if you keep it free of oil and grease, it'll last forever.
Beno and C Dan both work for American Toyota in NM... 20-30% discount if you mention you're a MUD member. See his sig line.
Yeah, prolly better off puttin' that money towards a snorkel !! But calling an auto part that'll last for 20+ years a 'rip off', not to mention Toyota even still supports these vehicles, is a bit extreme. The price has to do with the exchange rate and demand. I'd pay it just because it's still avail and I'd never have to buy another one.
Although that oem part looks mighty nice, my wallet can't take that kinda hit. I found some 3" flex hose for $4/ft so for eight bucks and some hose clamps I'm back in biz. Made a flanged piece to go thru the hole in the grille to attach to.
American Toyota and TRDparts4u (toyota of dallas) both offer mud members 25% off list on parts. On the other hand our local toyota store offers it at 15% over suggested list price so the saving for me is even greater.
I'm all about OEM parts for nearly everything, but when you can build a substitute like that for 1/10th the cost, then that is definitely the way to go, even if you had the C note.
