So I converted all my brake/turn signals to LED, and replaced the flashers (round 2 pin) in my EZWire fuseblock with "electronic" units from the autoparts store. Hazzards will work most of the time, but turn signals do not. If i throw an incandescent bulb in for load it works, flash rate changes with bulb wattage. I thought the electronic units weren't load dependant? I have seen other units online which add a separate ground lead, is that what I need?

Can anyone confirm that the 3rd pin is a ground, and that the 2 pin flasher with a ground lead would accomplish the same function? Gonna have to order it online, so want to be sure I'm getting the right thing...

Here's the LED Flasher I used next to the OEM one .

I guess I could remote them and use a couple spade connectors. Time to run down to Autozone at lunch. Thanks for the reply.

I used the 2 pin heavy duty electronic flasher from NAPA, Part # EL-12L-2. The flasher is marked Solid State but works just fine. There are a lot of different electronic flashers available. Some flash at a constant rate and other have a variable rates.

Just got the NAPA EL-12L-2, it lists the amperage range as 20mA to 25 amps. Wouldn't plug into my connector, going to have to add some leads and remote it (square vs round). Bench tested it with a small LED interior light and it works. Also has just 2 pins. Expensive bastards at $28.99 a piece though

Felt like destroying something, here's the internals of a cheapo thermal flasher.

Ended up getting the FL2 from Superbrightleds.com.

While the NAPA Part # EL-12L-2 works, the pins are reversed so it requires you to make jumpers to reverse them on the EZWire fuse block (plus they are $29 each).

Another advantage with the FL2 is that the housing is slightly smaller, so it fits into the round plug on the EZWire fuseblock (also, they are about $13 each, thanks WOYTOVICH). I'll take a couple pics and post it up for future searchers.

One thing to note is that if you want that mechanical relay clicking sound, you'll have to get some sort of audible indicator to wire in, as the solid state relays make no sound.

swap them out for LEDs but not the normal retrofit ones as they arnt very bright. and good job on that flasher. thats the one i used on my fj with all LEDs and a EZ harness :D

Which ones ARE bright then? What did you use?

so for the marker lights in the front i did this so they also blink with the turn sig.

i have a 71 so i have the square front lights and i retrofitted these from super bright LEDs. so i cut them up and put the pc board inside the stock rectangle housing
