FJ40 in Kenya with 4 runner gear

So the Prado / 4Runner for the Kenya market is a coil sprung solid axle, cool. What year truck are you using in the picture?

They are second hand imports from Japan , this one is the non intercooled solid axle front and rear but coil sprung , the engine is about 1997. Ill post the engine number later

Looks good so far. I have been over to Mombasa several times in the last 5 years and I rarely see 40 series Landcruisers. I have spotted one or two but not really as many as I thought it would be.

I see a lot of different versions of the 70 series. I always wondered if Kenya received 40's but they are just so hard on automobiles over there that none of them survived? Is that true? That was just my thought, no facts to back it up but you might know the facts.

Interesting project. The little 4cyl turbodiesel should move it around alright if you keep the truck somewhat light.

Why the 70 series style body mounts on the front frame horns? And is the bib going to clear the rad where it is currently mounted?

Edit: I see you grafted in a section of the frame.

There are plenty of 40s around but they tend to have the f 155 petrol so chew gas therefor are mainly on farms

I t should move pretty quick, I extended a few inches on the graft and then set the rear axles a couple of inches so have a 6 inch extension , which appeared ok , now I will have to extend the body behind the door which means a standard bestop top wont fit , tomorrow hopefullymore pics

Ok I think I have finished the rear suspension , any comments on the configuration?

Looking like a pretty cool setup! That is the 40 frame isn't it? I'll be watching this build, as I like the idea!

I Have now pretty well finished the chasis and before stripping to have the chassis galvanised I have fitted the tub and panels. I then cut the tub as pictured to accomodate the new length of the axle( +6"). I will begin fabricating a small frame and body panels to fill the gap.

This extension should help with leg room and comort.

I will hopefully have the frame/ chasis galvanised by next weekend and can start final assembly . Plan to have this on the road by end April 2010.

Ok a bit longer than I thought but I have finally a body rady fo prearto paint, the 5 inch extension is complete. I will have to get a bestop modified.
