Hello all. MUD has been a great resource for me as I searched and searched for a 40 that would suit my needs and my wallet. After months and months of searching, I finally found a nice and clean 1976 FJ40.

She came to me from Baton Rouge, LA, and the panhandle of Florida before that. I made the deal over the phone in February, and flew down their in March to drive her home. After 1100 miles in a FJ40 (first Louisiana heat, then Texas rain, then Oklahoma snow, then a Kansas headwind.....), you really start to appreciate it ... :steer:

Original 2F with X53,000 miles (guess 153k), original drivetrain. Everything was very clean, with just a couple of minor leaks. Some rust on the fenders and amb doors, but all in all a solid, mostly original rig with many years of service left in her.

Here's what it looked like when I picked it up:

Since then I've been playing with it a bit trying to get it ready for some summer wheelin. As of last weekend:

I've also got a built Tacoma that is my DD and travel truck, so we'll see where this one ends up. So far, so good!

I believe I see an OME lift? I would like to know the wheel and tire package also. They are Maxxis Bighorns but what size? And where did the white steelies come from?

Great looking truck btw.

Thanks. Tires are Maxxis Bighorns in 255/85/16. Rims where made by Stockton wheel: 16x7 with 3.25" BS. I ordered them bare metal, and painted them off-white.

22 series - that's right.

I can't remember exactly but it was close to that price ($101 maybe?). It was Ok for me, especially since I was looking for a size/offset/style that you can't really find off the shelf. I didn't think to haggle with them about pricing w/o the powdercoat; I just knew I wanted to pick my own color, and have the ability to easily clean it up when I put them on the rocks.

Nice one and welcome to the Madness! Maybe I'll see you on a trail run with it soon!
