I have one chipped tooth on my flywheel ring gear and I'm wondering if it could be welded and shaped to match?

Welded Flywheel Tooth
I had some time this weekend so I degreased and wire wheeled the 3-speed flywheel and had some material welded into the chipped tooth
. I then shaped the tooth to match all the others. Looks as good as new. Hopefully it will hold up over time. Here's a picture of the fixed tooth
(see red circle).
Now I just need to get the flywheel resurfaced.

The teeth I welded were on a flexplate that turned a 454!
My wife daily drove that truck for another 8 years before we donated it to a high school auto shop. Never missed another beat.
In other words, on a 6 cyl tractor motor, you should be fine.
