I'm rebuilding a 1975 2F and I've noticed that there are a couple options for where to position the alternator. Is the upper front passenger side location any better than the lower drivers side location? I'm not going to have a smog pump and power steering isn't in the plan for now. Since I don't have the bracket for the upper location, I'll probably just use the lower bracket that came off my '72 F motor unless someone tells me otherwise. Thoughts? Thanks.

Look out for wiring harness issues. If your running the 75 harness, and you locate the alt on the drivers side, you will have to build a section to reach around the rear of the engine along the firewall and back out to the alt. Not a huge deal, but be aware...

Good point. I hadn't thought of that one. The 2F is going into my '72 FJ40 so I'll probably use the lower driver's side location so that I won't have to reroute the wiring. Good call, thanks for the heads-up.

What Greek said.
That applies for most of the engine swap questions into early trucks. Install an '87 2F engine, but use the early alternator, pulleys, water pump, fan, carburetor, fuel lines, fuel pump, throttle linkage, choke cable, air cleaner, clutch & bellhousing, oil & temp senders....
