anyone out there find one for the 200?

everything i'm finding online seems to be coming from down under.

A cargo barrier just seems like something that makes so much sense when traveling with lots of gear to prevent luggage missiles in case of a crash. They just don't have much to offer here in the states. You may find doggie barriers but I'm not so sure they hold up for flying luggage.

The other alternative is to get tie down straps to hold down your gear. I've also found that behind the 2nd row seat has much greater depth than most cars. I can stack luggage much higher and it is still lower than the top of the seat. I also jack up the headrest's to hopefully stop at least larger objects from flying forward in an accident.

That's because the ausies know how to make a damn good product. Get used to it -- my LC has ausie parts all over it now (ARB, OME, IPF, etc.)

I've heard that the Black Widow carriers are the best. They are primarily designed for people who install a drawer system below and then use a half height barrier.

If you really feel a barrier is necessary, look at these. You will have to find a US distributor, though. I've never actually talked to these guys so I don't know much more than their website for the 200-series:

yeah, the aussie's really do have some of the best cruiser stuff. i wish i could find a cheap way to get stuff from there to hear. but i'm not even sure if the black widow system would be the right height for my own drawer system (i think mine is higher).

i think i'm gonna have to get someone who welds (not me) to fab something up for me.

mounting into the headliner is gonna make me cringe, but oh well.

ARB just launched the Outback roller drawers solution, with a cargo barrier
check it out

Don't forget to check out Milford Barriers, these are the guys that started it all, the original and the best, can do either full or half height with cutouts for baby seats etc.

from Milford, i got a quote of $756, half of which was shipping.

for that kind of money, i think i'll fab my own.

My local dealer got a 200 in this week. I got to poke around a little in it today. I could easily adapt my design to work in the back of a 200 but the air bags are a huge concern. It looks as if there is a single side impact bag that deploys from the C pillar. I don't know how I would fab something up that would not interfere with deployment in an accident. Unless there is a resource that would give me the space needed so I could work around that somehow.

I hope you get your hands on a 200 soon, Corbet, so we can get our barriers ... been wanting/needing one!

The Australian Toyota site has a barrier as an available accessory: "Toyota Genuine Cargo Barrier allows for unimpeded curtain airbag deployment within the vehicle"

Toyota LandCruiser Accessories: Interior

If Toyota offers that in other markets I'd contact CDan to see if he can get his hands on a few. There you can see the gap between the windows and barrier for the airbags. With the way I mount mine to the 3rd row captured nuts I'm not sure I could get that much space in there?

I love to build something that works but I don't want to put something out that is not safe.

They offer official dog guards/cargo barriers in Europe, too. Living in the US, I made do with an aftermarket version which is surprisingly sturdy for $90 and keeps the pit from riding up front with me.

Anyone has experience with this one?

Anyone? I guess I'll be a guinea pig. Looks like a decent design, except the loss of seatback recline. Kiddos will have to deal with it.

But seriously, a cargo barrier is an essential safety item; shame there is no OEM accessory for it. AFAICF the only available cargo barrier in the USDM is ARB that mounts to the drawers.
