OK, so a 6 point buck thought my 100 looked sexy last night and decided to meet it up close and personal. We are eating venison next week.

Damages were the front bumper, right headlight and a little crumpling of the right fender. Finally a subsidy for a new ARB bumper (I haven't got the estimate back yet, so the percentage subsidy could be significant).

Here is my question for all of you more experienced modders - will the ARB Combo significantly affect the handling of the truck on stock torsion bars? I know I would have to crank them up to restore the height, but will it bounce more, wear out the shocks faster, etc?

2000UZJ is perfect guy for you to ask about that, as he has a combo bar and stock t-bars.

On a side note, I know deer season opens this weekend in GA, and Im sure its already open for you.......I say you go get even with that B******s buddies.:D

Although atleast you already get two trophies, a 6 pointer and an ARB:cool:

If you add a ARB combo upfront you will certainly loose height, I know I did. I am running my stock torsion bars at 1.75" and I have no threads left on either side. If you do not plan on lifting the rear end you will be fine.

As for handling, like stated, I have a 1.75" lift upfront and 2" in the rear. Along with sliders, 305 KM-2, etc. I do not have any problems with handling. Rides great, handles flat ( though I am sure OME torsion bars would keep it flatter in corners). I prefer a very, very soft spring weight when wheeling. Most of these super soft spring rates have a negative effect on the street. The only problem I have with this setup is under hard braking or evasive maneuvers the front likes to nose dive drastically, enough to bring the rear end up and become light.

The shocks will have to do a little more dampening when you come off of speed bumps, but it will not effect the quality. If they feel to soft or "bouncy" (subject to condition of shocks), throw some Bilstein's on it. I have those and they are fabulous. My rig is setup with ARB, sliders, KM-2's, unneeded weight in the back, 866's and stock torsion bars. pman has also ridden with me for quite some time. Rides great.

pman can explain how much my front end dives, he saw a near pile up going home one night and I was forced to swerve violently across 4 lanes, the back end stepped out towards the concrete barrier and I was forced to them shoot back through traffic. It was some gang of HID Hondas rolling through traffic at 90mph, cut in front of me and slammed on the brakes. I just could not stop in time.

To put it simple, you will not have any issues running this setup. It's very comfortable.

I have a TJM, which is supposedly lighter compared to other bumpers, the only complaint I would have with the stock tbars would be the nose dive when exiting from the freeway, braking carefully and not being a lead foot can help prevent the nose dive during braking:D

In 2001 my Sahara Bar and winch went on before my lift...because of availability. The thing was a nose diver especially on the trail. Those OME shocks were pre-N133 (stiffer) by the way so that wasn't a plus either.

Once the lift went on the ride quality was transformed from squish and dive to "sport". Like on any build of any brand it's important to match spring rate with load capacity. ARB vs OEM T-bars are not a match. Like anything though...we build as we can.

I had a TJM on the front with stock T-bars, I have since removed it and didn't notice any change in driving or handling before or after. I do run Bilstein shocks that are firmer then stock. I then installed the TJM on the front of a '06 LC with AHC, again no noticeable change.

I'm pretty sure the ARB Deluxe Bull Bar bumper is much heavier than the TJM bumper. At least that's my guess....

Probably 40-50 lbs more. Before I went with aftermarket t-bars I would see what the ride was like. Some like a soft ride over the firm ride that comes with the aftermarket bars.

Just ordered the bumper through Iron Pig. The insurance company is writing me a check for about $940 towards the bumper assembly, so a new bumper for the price of shipping is not too bad! It will be out of the body shop about when the truck arrives.

New shocks were on the maintenance budget this year any way, so I may jump to the Bilsteins - we'll see how it feels first. Although I want one, I don't see a winch in the near future anyway.

Thanks for the feedback.

Congrats on the new ARB bumper:D

Did you strap the deer carcass to the hood or load it in the back?

Didn't want to mess up my cruiser so I loaded it into a friend's Ford Expedition:grinpimp:

Thought about strapping it to the hood of my wife's 4Runner to take to the processor - she had to drop off my son at school on her way. We thought that would be a good touch at his ritzy private $chool. But she elected to use the utility trailer instead. Red blood dripping off her pristine white 4Runner would have been an awesome sight.

I have an ARB bull with a 100# winch - I haven't touched the T-bar and the truck doesn't appear to be leaning or handling abnormally.

But then again, it's no Porsche where handling is more precise.

Back ordered:crybaby:

Looks like I'm bumperless until December some time.
