My TPMS light is flashing and I can't get it to shut off. I just had Duratracs put on and now the light is flashing. The shop put in about 45 psi and I raised it up to 50f and 55r and the light is still on. I even held in the reset button to the left of the dash but it still will not shut off. The rig is an '06 100 with AHC if that helps. Is it possible one of my sensors went bad?

I tried to bypass mine with no luck. When are far as tearing apart the dash and disconnecting the TMPS ecu...light remained on:mad:
A trip to the dealer and they can tell you what is wrong.

Check the spare.
Then check the liability disclaimer on the TPMS valves the tire shop had you sign.

Good Luck

Disclaimer? I didn't put in new sensors.

For now black tape should fix it until I need to go to the dealer. Thanks for the input guys.

I have an 06 too and I think flashing means no connection to the sensors while a steady light means that the air pressure is out of the set range.. (holding in your button for about 5 sec re-sets the range of psi to what you have, so the light shoul dgo off) Not 100% but my guess is that you don't have any sensors in your new wheels, or the shop damaged one..

My light stayed on all the time without any sensors in place FWIW

No - the boogers are expensive, so tire dealers try to have you sign a form relieving them of liability if they get damaged by the tire repair/replacement.

TPMS is integrated in the vehicle computer, so you can't just "turn them off" or remove them from your wheels. Because they are a coded radio signal, they have to be computer matched to your vehicle's ECM. Hence the expensive part, just like master keys.

Hopefully it's your spare.

In my 06 I had the same problem and checked the air in all the tires including the spare. Turns out there's a button in the glovebox to add a second set of tires (winter tires) and somehow that button had been turned on and that's why mine wouldn't turn off. Not sure if they have that in yours but may be worth checking.

huh.. I have my offroad setup right now (tires without sensors) and my light blinks.. Well, my spare is still back there with a sensor.. I have an 06.

Im not sure if my spare had a sensor or not:confused: Blinking would have driven me crazy. I went with black tape:hillbilly:

I learned that my cell phone fits perfectly right in front of the light! Now that the more sophisticated solution!!

FYI: Another option is to keep all sensors in a pressurized can.. There are some threads on that so search.. Could be a solution for folks with two sets of wheels, no cell phone or black tape! :D

Similar problem here - 2006; TPMS started flashing last week. But, I didn't do anything - tires haven't been touched in several months, since rotation. All 5 tires are right at 35 PSI. Damn thing just started - won't stop blinking, no matter what buttons I press and/or hold. Time for new sensors?

Flashing means failure or can't read. I can't recall, does the 100 have a 2nd set button? (For a second set of tires). It would be under driver or passenger side dash near footwell. I've seen that switch get bumped and cause a flashing light.

There's a button on the left side of the dash, and there's one in the glovebox.

If you've toggled the second set button already and it didn't turn off the flashing light, you have a failed sensor. Holding down the other button resets the threshold, so once you get the sensor(s) fixed, you may need to air down the tires a bit and reset the threshold.

Well that sucks. Are tire guys able to determine which sensor failed? Or, do I buy a new set and swap all five when it's time for tires?

Side note: not overly impressed with the "legendary" Land Cruiser reliability. An '06 with 87,000 miles and it's cost me as much as any SUV (Jeep, Isuzu. Ford) I've owned.

A reputable tire shop should be able to determine which sensor is bad, hopefully they have those tools since TPMS has been around so long. Or you could get Techstream and let the air out in each tire until you find which one has the bad sensor.

The first 100-125k is a little expensive, especially on earlier 100s. I think reliability is a term that has different meaning depending upon how the word is used and also the owner's expectation. Mine hasn't cost me much in the way of repairs, but maintenance isn't cheap. 90k miles and 8-9 years on a tire pressure sensor.... I wouldn't run away just yet.

Thanks TXLX00. I'm not giving up yet - still LOVE this truck. Earlier this year, I had to replace the ABS pump/computer/MC. That wasn't cheap. The power steering has recently started to whine. Well, at least I think it's the PS pump. But again, I do love this truck. And, even if it doesn't live up the the legend, it's still better than 4 out 5 other trucks out there.
