So I pulled into a 76 gas station in my town of Sonoma. Next to me was this very wealthy looking man driving a 2008 white Lexus Lx570. I was checking out the truck and asked the man how he like it so far. He said that while it was a nice car, he greatly preferred both his 2004 and 1999 land cruisers over it. I was pretty shocked when I heard this answer and asked why. He said that the Lx570 drives like a lincoln continential and his older land cruiser are much more agile and fun to drive. He said he would choose his land cruisers over the new lexus anyday.

This really shocked me and I just thought I would share.:steer:

That's exactly what I thought when I considered going to the LX 570. I just decided to keep mine and fix it up to look new again.

The ride is a lot like our LS - too soft for a SUV.

I wonder if the new LC is the same since the suspension is different.

I've heard the same thing, not to mention some of the 'quirkiness' like the gauges and bubbly headlamps, etc.

Not to mention the sticker shock involved in buying an '08!

My '98 Land Cruiserw w/ low miles and no payment sounds more desireable all the time. Just added a satellite radio and Garmin navigation w/ Bluetooth for a grand total of $700, so now I have what new ones might come with. But the new ones don't offer locking front/rear differentials do they?

Uhhhh... I suppose. The 100 is still pretty lux.

Try driving a 60...

I loaded the 60 and the 100 both down with concrete today to make a dump run in 50 mph croos winds... my wife drove the 100 (with one hand on the wheel, one talking on the phone)...and I was hanging on for dear life in the 60 while almost being blown off the road three times...

The 60 is a tank, but the 100 is soooo much more Lux it is depressing... that being said, I drive the 60 when I want to feel good, I drive the 100 to work.

Tru dat. I like "driving" the 60.

The 100 is just put it into D and hit the gas. Yawn.

I will gladly take the new LX570 any day.

Dang! I'm agreeing with him again. Granted I've never even seen an LX570, but I was quite impressed with th 200 series. The owner of one of our local Toyota dealerships has a 200 and formerly had a 100. He said the 100 was his favorite of all his Cruisers. If I had the money, I'd trade my 100 off in a heartbeat for a 200.

You should delete this post! :D

If I start to get tempted by any new car I'll just drop the 100 off for a $200 detail, "new car smell" pine tree and throw in a new GPS, DVD player and stereo.

Most of the benefits of a 2008 without dropping 70 grand.

OK, it is obvious you haven't driven one. It is a much different vehicle. But for you to stay happy in your 98 and getting your detail jobs I suggest you don't drive one. It will be a lot cheaper.

Because... I flew down to Tucson to buy the 60. I was driving it home when i4c4lo blew by me somewhere in Utah I believe...
