hey shotz you cant really like the 200 that much; i really dnt want to put the new 200 down b/c i did like some parts but the price is to high for what you get; and now with the dollar getting crushed the prices are not gonna come down soon. I had a lx570 for a few hours drive and the engine was great! very fast compared to my 06 but i really dont like the materials used. the service guys truck did not have the upgraded interior shown in the release photos; and from surfin the lexus site everyone seems to have the same interior so the upgraded one is not out yet i believe. now everyone dont get mad a this statement but over the years the lc & lx have held up b/c they used good quality parts, good workmanship and modest designs that hold up over years. look at the 80 series; you seen one on the road it still looks good in stock form; show me a 20 year old chevy or ford. they look 20 years old even if the owner took excellent care of it. i dont think this 08 model will hold up like the others and i bet $20 they change some stuff for the 09 model

I hear ya on the price though I have a different outlook.

These Cruisers last so long and stay like new for so long that the high initial cost still reflects a great value to me. I'm so glad I bought my 2001 new and wheeled it from day one. It cost me a fortune and today, 7-years later I can car wash it and it looks and runs superbly.

The whole outlook changes IF for $70K+ you didn't get a Cruiser. Say you bought a Escalade, or a G500, or Toureg......that $70K will be shot in 3-5 years and you'll be wanting something new and more reliable. That's the neat thing....the 200 Cruiser comes out and I can't justify dropping the cash because my 100 is still SO nice and SO reliable. It's been about 1.5 years since it's been to Toyota for anything. Gotta love it! Worth every penny of the high new entry price!

Mac,

I didn't know you bought it in AZ okay that makes sense :D

Because... I flew down to Tucson to buy the 60. I was driving it home when i4c4lo blew by me somewhere in Utah I believe...

But I honked and waved when I went by ... :cool:hehehe

shotz i agree 100% with the comparison but with one problem lets say the ranger rover; the materials for the interior just seem a bit better quality then the new 200. When i got my 06 i shopped around. the merc & range rover all had good materials but when getting my 06 yes it lacked some tricks that the others had but the material where excellent for that year. I just think for 2008 a 70k lc & high 80k for the lx some of the materials being used look like they came from the cheap parts bin in the factory and i dont thing those items will hold up. now in others parts of the world the truck would cost less like in oz you can get cloth seats etc which brings the price down and makes the 200 more of a good purchase. The lx i drove was nice but with the wait list and the dealer mark ups 90k is a lot of money

I liked the interior of the 200 though cosmetics inside mean little to me. What counts is the quality.

You spend 75K on a RRover and in 2-years you'll want to dump it for something that doesn't live in the shop and when out of warranty doesn't cost $3000 for every fix. t's vehicles like that that ARE expensive to operate in the long term. The depreciation will kill you if you sell early. The repairs will kill you if you keep it.

My money is on the long term quality of the Cruiser. The nicer inside perks of a Escalade or RR don't cut it for me. I find the 200 a superb value.

yup that is right but hey maybe thats why the range rover interior holds up well the truck is in the shop so much no one drives it:) but i was comparing the 200 series to my 06 model only time will tell how it holds up; i have no question that the 200 series will hold up mechanically but over all you have to take in interior and exterior stuff.

Even though I have given the 200 quite a lot of grief I still am considering getting one. I do agree totally about the comparisons between the quality of materials used for the interior of a RR vs. a LC. It's not like the LC is low rent though. It just doesn't seem as posh as the RR's IMO. However, there is a whole lot to be said about a well built dependable vehicle which the LC typically is. My '01 LC with 65K is solid as a rock and despite a couple of irritants (NAV inop, tranny went south..) the sucker is as tight as a well wound clock. I seriously doubt you can say that about an '01 Escalade, Tahoe, etc. The LC is a very well built vehicle and well deserving of its excellent reputation. I'm going to drive a 200 for an extended test drive (keep it overnight) this week and who knows, I just might buy it. I still am thinking about getting an '06 LC but the '08 is damn tempting. While there are things about the 200 that I'm not 100% blown over by, it still is an excellent rig that I'm sure I'd be happy to own !!

The longer I own and drive my LC200 the more I seem to like it.

Funny story on RR... The day my wife and I went looking we stopped first at Toy dealer. They had just gotten an LC200 in with no prep work. We looked it over and told the sales person we were running down the street to look at the RR's and may return. Went to RR dealer. You know we were not impressed much at all. To both my wife and I the interior seemed cheesy. So after walking around the RR for a while the salesman says to me 'You know this is what all the movie stars and folks with money drive' Geez, you got to be kidding, I hadn't shaved for 4 days, long hair hanging out of my baseball cap etc. I say 'Do I look like a freakin movie star, I live in the woods in NH dude. See ya! So went back to Toy dealer. They had the LC200 all cleaned up by the time we got back. Said 'We knew you would be back' haha that was good. So anyway we drove it home that night and have been happy as heck with the purchase. Again I do have to say the vechile grows on you. Love it. Pretty to to us. Nice candy red with all options.

Hmmm, I was under the impression that the "movie star" car of choice these days was the Prius !! Damn long hair, liberal, left coast, Green Peace loving toe suckers !! :flipoff2:

Yeah, you blew by me like I was driving...

a 60...

Damn Supercharged mofo! :D

This after me gawking at your rig @ McDonalds near Lake Powell.

Too funny. Small world.

ya, so i had a 200 LX park next to mine today, god its ugly....i didnt even want to take a picture in fear my phone would break

To take something as expensive (and homely) as a new LX is and then pour even more $$ into moding it and still in the end having something butt ugly doesn't make any sence to me. Granted, I haven't seen the end product you speak of I personally wouldn't waist the extra money for the LX and would go with the much less unattractive 200 series LC in the first place. I realize that there are a few out there that do not deem a cars looks to be of any importance, I for one do place a vehicles looks to be as important as its number of cup holders and a/c vents !! I live in a populated part of the world. If however, I lived in a much less inhabited area my priorities might be different !! ;)

Just a personal thing, but I believe the 2006 and 2007 Lx470's are MUCH better looking than the new Lx570.

There's just something beautiful about these:
