I think it's about time to pick an ultimate 80. We should establish criterias were everybody can participate. Maybe do this once a year and have prizes for 1st,2nd and 3rd runner-up. What do you all think? Waste of time? Let's hear it. ;)

In this case, after we decide on what different criterias we need to have, whoever scores the highest will be the "ultimate".

Does LX_treme get to play?

-B-

Depends on the criteria. :D

That's easy. It's in my Garage :D

LX_Treme, Drexx's U80, TiredIron's Volvota, Action Jackson's 80, Christo's Shortbus.

I would add Kirk's LT-1 powered 80 series as well as the Proffitt guys doing the 4BT conversions as well as all of the terrorist dudes with holes cut into the roof and .50 calibers hanging out of them and I would add also Brian Jowett's 80 series with the manual trans and Orion box and Waggoner's FZJ45 (it is an 80 series after all) and Christo's FZJ85...

The list could really go on and on and on and on and on and on and on....

I'd think that the ultimate 80 still has to have solid road manners. "Go anywhere" has to include highway.

I'd be inclined to vote for something that can do insane things offroad, but doesn't need a trailer to get home.

There's only one "ultimate"

I think there are lots of ultimates. A better way of saying ultimate, IMHO, is "best of breed." We'd be better off defining the different breeds and picking the winner in each category.

Tired Iron's rig is clearly on the short list for best of breed in the hard core offroad class.
