Denver Area 100's in the Hills thread

As of right now, the plan is to meet somewhere in the Front Range (either 285 or I-70) for a caravan to Ouray. My usual route would include 285, 50, Owl Creek Pass and 550 into Ouray. This is a long day (6-7.5hours) depending on stops. Taking I70 or 285/50/550 without Owl Creek Pass is about 5.5-6 hours.

I am a fan of Owl Creek Pass just for the scenery, but I could take that way on the return if we don't want to do it on the way out. Plan on a mid-morning go time, and pack a lunch. We'll come up with a lunch spot on either route. We'll use 146.460 and CB4 for communication. More info to follow.

Please post up if you plan on joining our group, it will be great to see a long line of 100's on the road! We may have some of the guys traveling from the Southeast tagging along. I'll PM everyone on the list my cell # prior to our departure.

Great idea to organize this convoy Stan. At this time, I am planning to already be over on the western slope a few days earlier, so I will not be on the Denver based westward convoy. I will meet up with you guys on Thursday at the campsite! If my plans change, I will let you know. This is going to be a great weekend!

For anyone interested in joining Rising Sun for our monthly meeting, I will be discussing the 100's in the Hills event briefly tomorrow night. We meet "in the field" this month.... night run to follow the meeting. Here's the info
Rising Suns next meeting will be Wed. July 3rd at 7:30 pm at the Central City Cemetery parking lot. 1 mile west and up the hill from Central City .

Just wanted to keep this updated. If we're doing Owl Creek Pass, then our meetup time should be around 8am for an 8:30 departure. ( No later than 9am) That will give us time to either

A: eat breakfast in Buena Vista (roosters crow cafe) or
B: enjoy a field lunch under the trees near Silver Jack Reservoir

Any input or preferences?

I'm up for either, although would pry enjoy eating somewhere fun on the trail as opposed to a restaurant. Are you guys thinking of packing sandwiches in the coolers, or getting out the cookers?

I'll probably just eat a quick meal (sandwich type) and not pull the camp stove out. I'll wait for dinner for that.
