Any advice on how to keep tires from dry rotting? I see RV people with all kinds of ways of covering them up. Is this proven to help?

My rig is officially a part time truck now. Don't want to have to buy another set of tires because of dry-rot.

Is there any goop to put on them that will help?

I know Murrah has about 25 years on his tires, but I can't keep mine inside. That is unless someone has some garage space to loan me.

TIA

well I have seen tires that have been on rv's that have been covered up and that helps some with dry rot. it keeps the uv rays off of them. But they still will be older tires and older tires don't like heat and heat is great for the tire biz.

Don't know of any kind of coating to put on them. Always have been told that Armour All was bad for them. Don't know if its true.

Out of the elements-out of the sun is the best thing.

Bodean's MTR's that were made in 2002 in the year of our Lord are fine for wheeling weekends but I'm not sure you want to drive them to Arizona in July or August. Now Bodean's spare that thing in REAL old.

When cars use to have full size spares, every summer I'd have some older Lady come in in her 15 year old Buick. She was going to see her sister in Fort Smith, Arkansas and wanted her air check including her spare. Within a week she would come back in with a blown out SPARE. The tire had been in her trunk dry rotting, it had never been in the elements or most of the time had never been on the ground. Old rubber is just old rubber. For years this happened every summer with some old lady.

hope this helps.

Sad to think your junk has become part time.

Uh, yea, I got some space for your 62. Bring it on over. Better leave the keys here in case of.... an emergency .... or something. Sure, bring it on over!

BTW I have 12 storage bays to store it in.

Fee's are gonna be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:D

Put it on blocks and keep the tires inside.:meh:

Cool, I get to be this first one to follow that thought - ahem, ya got some open space in the front yard - right?
