I dont think the weight will be a problem. I have a 28 gallon tank under my trailer and it doesn't make as big a difference as you might think. I can move it around the yard or position it in camp by hand. My trailer is SOA on 35s and quite a bit heavier than yours and it is still easy to move.

The water tank location is bothering me a bit in regards to the tongue weight, I would love to have it slightly forward of the axle but it cuts into the bed too much i think.
I'm also thinking of trying the tank in the flat position towards the front???
It would be nice if it was a little smaller to put it under the trailer but this one is too big for that.

One thing about the tank is i intend to fill it just before getting to the camp area at the last known fill point ie gas station or the like and also there is ample drinking water in most of the areas in BC where i will do most of the trips so I will add a small 12v pump to the kit also.

I for sure wanted the brakes on the trailer and they cost me in the region of $240 CDN with taxes so not the cheapest mod but well worth it IMO.
I have electric brakes on two other trailers and love them although they are maintenance intensive.
Also i intend to put a solid top on the trailer and above that a removable boat rack.
The Autohome would be nice too but with three kids i have to set up a tent anyway so not now but i will see for next year.
My favourite mod so far has been the tires, IMO it completely transforms the look of the trailer.
I will get the silver star so i can keep the pics coming...

So i got the new longer shafts in the front over the weekend and a wee bit of fab work on some extra storage shelves.
The front one is not finished yet but will have the same material as the side shelves...
Everything is attached with bolts and can be removed which i will do when i finish the fabbing because i want to podwercoat or maybe Galvanise it for durability.

I'm thinking now of installing the water tank in the rear of the box to counter balance the extra weight carrying capacity that i have created in the front.
I also intend to put an outboard motor support in the front so it's gonna get a little heavy up there and my thinking is to fill the rear water tank by "X" amount to compensate for the weight.
I will post up some more detailed pics when I've got it a wee bit further, Wee bit of grinding on some of the welds first..lol
Will finish the front and start work on the rear bumper this coming weekend...

Also got me a silver star today:bounce::bounce:

Very nice.....very nice. I would love one of those, but I don't really need one, however sometimes want outweighs need.

More pics...here's the removable rear bumper i made over the weekend(Removable because i want to galvanize it)

So she sat for a few months in the shed because summer happened and i had to do lots of work on the truck instead.
Tonight i took apart the axle to start a spring over and while doing so i am going to paint the springs and related parts.
I need to get this trailer done for soon as i do lots of camping during the winter and my home-depot trailer is not quite strong enough:grinpimp:

That musta been a little while ago, cuz I'm weird but even I don't wear shorts at the beginning of December in the lower mainland!

Very nice fab on the trailer. I am jealous and also wondering why I didn't see that one on craigslist; was it a local find?

Cheers,
Landon

no spring over axle swap yet? You'd gain a ton more clearance for those tires. I can guarantee at the height its at now....those tires are going to be battling with those fenders almost non-stop offroad.

Got the spring over done a couple of weeks ago and painted the springs and axle with por-15.
It's amazing how much more flex there is in the springs once i painted them up and installed them.
What did you guys do for shocks?
Bought some rock lights on the weekend too at a local traclor supply for a great deal.
Been playing around with two 20 pounder propane bottles (Didn't know they stacked????) to see if i could find a way to carry two for extended vacations off-road.
I am having new fenders bent to cover the wider wheels, Bent to match the original style.
Should be ready for the road in a month or so.

Looking forward to the progress pics.

For shocks, I would add them personally. If nothing else they will help when the trailer comes off any obstacle and not allow it to "bounce" as hard on the rebound.

Rancho 9000's are adjustable, but they are nicer than the units on my Cruiser and that is over the line in my book :D
