You need to pull the codes from the ECU (code reader or have AutoZone or similar do it) and see what caused it to turn on.

Hi DMX8 , thanks for the help. My TLC is now in a remote part of Asia where no authorized Toyota service centers are around. Can you give me some hints as to what can cause my Check Engine to light up ? So we can check them manually.... Thanks
 
No problem, it could be anything as simple as a fuel cap not sealing (turn it until it clicks) or anything on the engine.
You should purchase an OBD 2 code reader ~ $100 bucks and you will be set and this will give you piece of mind and the ability to clear the code and turn the light out.
