I'd be happy to walk you through my setup if you want. Basically I have the base unit in the back and I run the connection to the faceplate which is just below my stereo. I have the mic cable run into the same bay below my stereo, but it doesnt go to the rear, it just goes back and down under my center console and pops back up near the e-brake. The external speaker jack also pops up there so I can plug in the speaker, faceplate and mic from the same location. Never found a super great way of attaching the speaker and faceplate, but velcro has been doing a good job and keeps it all from being permanent.

Thanks Brad. Where did you find (or make) the extension cable for the Mic? The separation kit allows me to remote the faceplate but i guess i need to find or make an extension for the Mic. I actually have the faceplate mounted on a RAM mount under the review mirror which turned out great. Just need to run the extension cables now.

Any help would be great!

You can see in my second post on that thread I have a male-male connector for the mic down by my e-brake. The actual mic cable was a flat type cable that was white originally, I just sprayed it black. Just plug that cable into the faceplate mic plug, run the cable wherever you want it, add the male-male connector, then plug your mic into that. Done!

edit: male-male or female-female, not sure which term, just make sure you can plug into the connector

Thanks for the pointers Brad. I got things figured out. I found out why my mic extension cable was not working....I was using a 4pin connector and not a 6pin like i should! Oh well, at least i figured it out. The install went well and IMHO it came out very clean:

Looks nice! I will be installng teh same unit soon.

where did you find the 6 pin cable? I stopped by several stores tonight and couldn't find a single one. All of them were 4 pin phone cords.

I bought the bare wire and ends at Ace Hardware and crimped on ends myself. Did you check Radio Shack???
I have a crimper and extra ends if needed.....

Got it. Yes, I checked Radio Shack, Dixieline, Walmart, Best Buy, Office Depot, and a local specialty cable shop called Odd Cables.

I'll just try to find some cable and connectors online and crimp them myself.

So, did you confirm that the 6 conductor straight through with RJ12 ends worked properly? I was wondering if there be a distance limitation. What distance did you end up using?

Yes, 6pin straight through DOES work, no problems. I bought 25 feet of cable and probably ended up trimming off 8 feet or so. I have the coupler where the mic connects to near the center console/cup holder. Hope this helps.
