shanes kit which sor.com sells is/was incorrect for the FJ55 heater blower motor. He is working on making them correct, infact I think he was looking for early and later blowers to buy to size the kit correctly.

first step on the early resistor is to make sure it still works. do you have high and low speeds?

I use brake clean to clean up the wires, and them wrapped them in electrical tape, mimicking other parts of the OEM wiring. looks okay.

check my 72 build up thread for a later heater resistor install if yours is crapped out.

I put foam on both sides. be sure to leave a little to hang over the shape of the flapper so it seals well against the housing.

You might see if some local place has non shrink wire loom. mcmaster.com has it in various sizes, as does vintageconnections.com

I'm fairly certain my blower works in two speeds. In not, I've got a spare sitting around:o

I tried using electric cleaner instead of brake or carb cleaner. Did okay on the wires themselves. Didn't do anything to the resistor even when I scrubbed it with a wire brush. And was sporadic on the stock wire "loom".

On the stock wire "loom", I can pull and replace with the corrugated stuff that I've got by the pound:lol: I just like the smooth uncut look of the stock stuff.

On the flapper, does it get foam on both sides? Or just one side? I don't have a problem cutting up the foam... I am just clueless on where it goes
