I am looking to see if anyone close has some parts around that they want to unload. I need everything from the spindle out to replace the birfield eliminator crap on my 40 from axle. The spindles are fine but I have nothing beyond that part. I will need the rotor and locking hubs as well.

Let me know what you might have.
Tom at TNT might have parts for me but I though I would check to see if any of you had something around that you were looking to unload to.

Thanks,
Goebs

85-older minitruck and FJ60/62 stuff also works....tho with the minitruck you'd still need rotors and calipersm - I run a larger 4Runner caliper, wanna say from 1989 or so (IFS) - bigger pistons and ribbing...

make SURE you end up with Aisin lockouts.....NO WARN stuff...

good choice on the Longs :D

I am hoping to use the calipers I have now. I have great breaking. I have hopes of finding parts and bolting this all on and wheeling soon. I am guessing I am already in over my head seeing as I can't yet get the broken shaft out. It is a mess in there.
The plan is to remove the unbroken side and push out the shaft from there. Hope that is possible...
If you guys know what parts I need or the right terms to ask, please post them here so I can find the right junk the first time. I basically have a clean shiny spindle and nothing beyond that except a big old caliper...

I need to get the shafts out fast to be sure I know what to order Longfield wise. I am not sure if the locker and gears are basic cruiser stuff or not. Hoping if I pull the shaft out I might learn something. I would assume the "Birfield Elim Kit" would work directly with the originall carrier and gears. Assumption...

I might need some wrenching help getting things back together if the parts are random. I can remove and replace but when things are different....That leaves room for failure!

John,
I am thinking of building a better looking Family cage in place of what I have now. Might need some help and ideas with that. I plan to wheel more at the cliffs with you guys after seeing it so the plan for the 40 is progressing in my head. I am bagging the road legal part and going with a full bodied, most likely bashed full body, version that looks updated...

I want to stick with the axle I have and try to piece things back together from there if possible.

Is the spline count on a stock inner axle 30 on the 40? I was able to get my shafts out last night and the inner count was 30. If so I think I at least can order up the longfields from Tom and get the project going.

Anyone have a set of Aisins (Spelling) around?

I decided I need to have this project done soon so I can get back to the cliffs in the 40 this fall.......

Longfields do come in 30 splines. I'm sure your side gears are stock.

Yeah the stock side gears in th carriers are 30 spline. the slines in the birfield are 27 spline. The 30 spline longs just change the birf spline count to 30. Just call Bobby and tell him you need 30 spline longs for a 40 axle. He will get you set up. Or at least tell you what you need and you can go through tom if you want.

Just let me know when you get the part together ill come up and help ya.

Call Tom and see what he has laying around as far as axle parts go, im sure he has everything you need.

Also try FROR (front range off road) they make the Diamond axle housings and they buy up stock axles and butcher the knuckle balls off of them and are left with tons of extra parts. Some of which they do sell.

A wrenching party at Goeb's Compound? Count me in if it happens. I have an awesome set of tools.

No! This aint no tech day we plan to actually get s*** done. And besides, unless your doing it, knuckles only take about 15min/side.

:flipoff2:

I dont care, its goebs party. If he wants more bitches there its his business. :D

depending on what evening or day it takes place, we can call it a party... Just know that when I wrench I have to be focused cause I need to learn as I go.

I also live way the hell north of everyone so guesssing most don't want to drive all the way to my pad just to watch me pretend to be a mechanic.

If Tom rings me back with delivery dates or approxs, I'll let you know.
