I just rebuilt the one in my 88' Fj-62 and am contemplating going with a 5.3 vortec instead. It is just broken in at 3,200 miles.

I have one in Medford, Or. I took it out and did a diesel conversion. Have all components from the computor to the air filter, fan to flywheel. Ran good but is high miles. I had a blown head gasket so pulled the head and had it surfaced and valves done. pistons looked good, no cracks. had minimal blowby. Head has about 1500 mi on it.
