We need to get together at Sam's to get his 40 up and running. He had someone come by and they pulled off parts then hasn't returned. I think a day would be good to go over it and see what it needs to get it running and ready for smog.

Let's do this... And then let's go get the MFers that took his s#!t.

I'm there. With a little luck I will have my 60 running which we can use as a vac line reference.

Would they know the difference? Has it been registered in CA before? It shouldn't need an inspection if so...

Technically the 2F was available in late 74 and solidly in 75 (still smog exempt) and I doubt they know how to date an engine by engine number... even so, you say you swapped in a 2F from the same year or still smog exempt and they should let you go... You could bring documents showing that the 74/75 MY trucks came from the factory with that engine...

He has had it slogged and registered in the past even after all the work was done. It was parked after it didn't pass smog the renewal.

So CA is aware the engine is post-75?

Yeah, he should be fine. I have a 2F from an early 80’s cruiser in my 72’. Nobody’s ever asked about it. No smog equipment.

I don’t know if I would be much help since I’m still new to all this, but I’m game if I don’t have duty those days.

So on that year, so yeah it's not required to be smogged.

Maybe the tact we take here is to get it running solidly well and take it to the Fallbrook DMV the Phulcster uses and see if they will just register it. If so, he is good to go. If he has to smog it we can get checked out, add a few bottles of HEET and send him to Henry's in Escondido. His truck will smell like it had a hard night at the bar until he runs though the HEET.

Copy, it must be a 76 or something later if he is fighting smog issues. The 6th is going to be best for me as I will be out of town on the 5th.

I think his truck is a '78. I can do the 6th, what time?

Looks like wife planned the 6th so I can do the 5th.

Maybe the best approach is I head over Saturday morning and see how far I can get. Maybe others can pick up the torch Sunday?

I will try to come up on Sunday for a few hours so long as my wrenching at my place on Saturday goes well....🤞
