My 80 series box I just taped for hydro was leaking from the worm shaft. I could tell by how much ATF gunk was built up on the shaft u-joint. I see 2 teflon seals on the worm gear valve body assembly but it seems like there should be an oil seal much like the one on the bottom of the cross shaft where the pitman arm is attached. But I dont see one and there is not one on the exploded diagram in the FSM...so could all this gunk be caused by the two teflon seals that would cause such a build up on the worm shaft /sector shaft u-joint? The whole box was fairly wet and caked when it was removed.
