carnage update, and associated saga's...
BROKE: 700R case cracked....picked up another trans for $100, K-case this time for added strength....had it disassembled and took into my local tig guy to have the tail section finned....back to the builder and we realized that the case we found was a 1986 and the internals are significantly different from the 1989 I had installed....so, off to another trans shop for a 1990 doner K-case, disassemble that one, fin the tail section, and order up the few parts we needed....well, the place in CA I ordered the TransGo kit from took 8 days to ship...will be here this Friday or Saturday....
BROKE: Front 4340 inner shortside and 300M Longfield star...spun the splines on the inner where it meets the star, and not only spun the splines on the star but also split it into 6 pieces....ordered up a full latest-version 30-spline Longfield set with the 300M lockout cog as well....installed and ready to go.
BROKE: rear CV driveshaft....twisted 'er clean free, stock 1985ish front CV shaft tho, so it'll get rebuilt with a thicker section once I have my final lengths figured out.
BROKE: D300 case, upper area where the rear output bolts up....likely the result of the shock loading of the rear driveshaft - discovered this problem on Monday this week. Found a replacement case for cheap, drove 4+ hours roundtrip to get it home, only to discover that the case was a 1980 first year version, and the output pattern for the AA 32-spline piece I have doesn't match...considering that frustration was discovered about noon today, it's been a hell of a week. Looking at doing the STAK Replace-a-Case and being done with it...
so far, I'm guessin that video is gonna run about $3k....easy....
----
unsure what pieces I'll assemble for the 2010 Carnage Trophy...pretty sure the trans case and the D300 case will be too large/heavy, and I may yet send the Longfield stuff in for warranty...stay tuned for that build project tho
