carnage update, and associated saga's...

BROKE: 700R case cracked....picked up another trans for $100, K-case this time for added strength....had it disassembled and took into my local tig guy to have the tail section finned....back to the builder and we realized that the case we found was a 1986 and the internals are significantly different from the 1989 I had installed....so, off to another trans shop for a 1990 doner K-case, disassemble that one, fin the tail section, and order up the few parts we needed....well, the place in CA I ordered the TransGo kit from took 8 days to ship...will be here this Friday or Saturday....

BROKE: Front 4340 inner shortside and 300M Longfield star...spun the splines on the inner where it meets the star, and not only spun the splines on the star but also split it into 6 pieces....ordered up a full latest-version 30-spline Longfield set with the 300M lockout cog as well....installed and ready to go. :grinpimp:

BROKE: rear CV driveshaft....twisted 'er clean free, stock 1985ish front CV shaft tho, so it'll get rebuilt with a thicker section once I have my final lengths figured out.

BROKE: D300 case, upper area where the rear output bolts up....likely the result of the shock loading of the rear driveshaft - discovered this problem on Monday this week. Found a replacement case for cheap, drove 4+ hours roundtrip to get it home, only to discover that the case was a 1980 first year version, and the output pattern for the AA 32-spline piece I have doesn't match...considering that frustration was discovered about noon today, it's been a hell of a week. Looking at doing the STAK Replace-a-Case and being done with it...

so far, I'm guessin that video is gonna run about $3k....easy.... :)

----

unsure what pieces I'll assemble for the 2010 Carnage Trophy...pretty sure the trans case and the D300 case will be too large/heavy, and I may yet send the Longfield stuff in for warranty...stay tuned for that build project tho :) :bounce:

Holy Crap!

We may have to have a Special Jamboree Event in your honor just to encourage excessive use of torque to win a trophy with that history... :D

Woody that really sucks!

did the 39's had something to do with it!

I want to know because the 39's might be my next tire. Except I have a 465/205.

... and kind of like Daryl a DS not so strong.

If you're going to do something - do it right! First class carnage there Woodster!:clap::beer:

39's likely had nothing to do with it...thrashing it at the Badlands in Dec likely did most of it, it just finally let loose in TX

should be together in time for RoundUp...talked with STAK yesterday about their D300 replace-a-case - gotta see on manufacturing time for it...toss in my internals and bolt 'er up...

'just that easy'

Well, at least you were able to talk to them!

I was trying to get the 1310 cv yoke from them and they did not bother calling back(I called twice),

So much for customer service and following up w/ a customer ...and Yes, I left a message with a ph# to call back, so far nothing from them yet.

and Kowboy, you'd best be ready....been shoppin lately for a few things...list so far:

MRC1000T - MRC25X08 - MRC10W08 - LOSB1471 - LOSB1496 - LOSB1479 - LOSB1480B (yes, the sticki's) - LOSB1439

believe HS645MG is next, and perhaps the LOSB1423/1412/1411/1455 sets too...

did some testing last nite at a neighbor's indoor garden and it works nice....lookin at a Slingshot or GC2 chassis tho....not quite convinced yet, but close :) (WILL have the rear 4-linked tho...that's a must...)

NICE!!

Any luck on a LC body??

:flamingo:

no LC bodies yet...at the rate my changes go, it's gonna just be buggy :)

645MG ordered today too....may as well...

have the new Pitbull 2.2 tires coming too....not sure if i can get rims to work with this chassis, or if I gotta start with a new Axial :)

I am confused!

First we want the big toys to play with, now you'al are going backwards and buying little toys mmh!

Bibs on the old one if you get an Axial.

drooler....

keepin the Losi, may just need multiple rigs so I have a backup when one breaks :D
