Wont start in park

1987 4 Runner automatic, I know if has something to do with the shifter switch my problem is I am new to these 4 Runners. The shifter is loose and I have to find the sweet spot before the ignition will engage. How to I get this apart and how hard is it to get to the safety switch ? Thanks

I am not sure but there used to be an 87 or 88 FSM hosted somewhere. You can google it and see what you can find. I will check my 88 FSM later tonight for some info for you.
