Figured I'd share my build. This started out as my daily driver and was just going to do a simple toy solid axle swap on 35s. As you'll see that changed and then changed again. Heres a quick spec list.

Axles:
-Dodge Dana 60 front
-plan is factory inners with 35 spl outer and drive slugs
-4.10 gears

-GM 14 bolt
-welded with 4.10
-minor shave

Susp:
-ruf 4 leaf pack front
-furd 57s flipped
-cheap AZ 13" travel shock off a later model ford
-wheelbase 155-120ish

Heres a pic of the truck when I first got it

After the toy axle idea went in the can I picked up a Dana 44 from one of my buddy and tore it down. Boy was it dirty and I'm glad I ended up finding my Dana 60 housing.

Me and buddy went to work on cutting off the ifs, NEVER again will we do this with cutoff wheels. I will use a plasma cutter next time or cut off the frame at the body mount and build foward.

Should be working on it tomorrow, hoping to get the rear frame at least started, picked up 7 feet 2x3x3/16th square tubing today. Should be a good base of a bumper as well.

Nice work on the build. Why did you go with Dodge axles? You know that it's impossibale to keep them in 4x4 right.

Thanks man. It was cheap, plus the dodge inner c's are beefy. That and it was way easier to find than Chevy housings. What do you mean by impossible to keep in 4wd?

I've worked on a few Dodge 12 valves that had 4x4. The problem is with the vacuum mechanism that connects the axle halves so that you don't have to get out of the truck to lock the hubs. I've found that that thing never works, at lest when you need it to. I've even taken one a part and hose clamped in it the 4x4 position and that worked 'til the front axle was pulling hard, then it popped out. That's why I say Impossible.

EDIT: Now that I look closer at your pic I don't see that stupid vacuum box on the axle. Sorry for the excitement.:doh:I see the word Dodge and I get scared since going though this frustration so many times.

Nice Build.

Oh ok I had kinda thought that you were talking about the cad axles. Thanks again man, it's been fun so far, lots of little things take time and a lot of hidden cost I didn't plan on.

Got the disc brakes on the 14 bolt, using Barnes brackets and 80 Chevy 3/4 ton HD calipers. Also got one of the ruf pack put together, the other one is waiting on a center pin and I gotta cut one of the clamps off a leaf.

Also got the rear front spring hangers burned in, theres still a gusset I want to add but they are not needed yet. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to get the rear frame section done and welded but we'll see.

Rear frame section is in. Got a little more welding and plating to do but it's gettin there. Going to get the shackle mounts burned in tonight and work on getting the 14 bolt under it.

Yeah those spider gears took forever, I have t wheeled with full widths but I'm sure I'm gonna love it. The added stability and strength are well worth it.

I was think d60 front up until I saw that the cheapest one locally is 900 bucks and I still have to pull it myself so I think there is a $50 d44 calling my name on clist :)
Keep posting pics likin the truck so far

900 is fair for a 60. The 44 appears cheap at first but when you add it up a built 44 ain't to much less than a mild 60. Do your hw before going with a 44.

Well got a battery for It finally and saw a box on sale at Barnes. Still not sure where to put it yet. Also not sure if I should weld it in place or bolt it.

On a side not if anybody knows where to find a toy to Dana 300 adapter at a good deal let me know.
