Great info! Thx

There is a thread about R&R the gate switch. It is actually built into the latch on the upper gate so a bit of a bitch to get in and clean... I have the same problem where it works intermittently but the switch is just fine. Need to get some spray contact cleaner and see if I can get in there and clean it up.
If I can find the thread I will post it.

So I spent some time this weekend trying to find that damn thread and could not find it again. It was a really good one with full disassembly of the rear locking mechanism where the switch lives and some cleaning of it. I am thinking I am going to try some non-chlorinated brake cleaner in there with a quick shot of WD-40 afterwards to see if that helps.

Sounds like a plan. I also discovered my rear wiper doesn't work (the truck is new to me) so while the kids are playing with their new gifts and my wife is talking to her family I hope to sneak out and pop the rear panel off and have a look around.

I'm hoping to do this from inside the truck with the hatch closed so crap doesn't fall on my head. ...but things rarely work as I plan.

From what I remember seeing, once you pop those rear panels on the upper tailgate you will see a plug that is plugged into the back of the latch/lock, see if that is A.) plugged in and B.) not dirty corroded..

If I get a chance tonight I may take a quick stab at it.

Nice!
