Hey does anybody know how the wiper arm mounts to the post attached to the motor linkage? My passenger side arm mysteriously fell off the other day. It looks like there is some epoxy residue in the arm. But it doesn't fit back on tightly. I can't tell how it's supposed to attach, and I don't want to take apart the good one in case it's epoxied also. Is the post possibly broken? Or maybe I'm missing a piece.

Hey Stu - You can see the wiper mech has a splined "knub" sticking out & the arm has broached splines inside the arm to accept the "knub". Mebbe the broached area has a crack, which'll make it loose, & the PO tried to "fix" it booty style :D You'll need to pop it off eventually to clean under the grill section of the hood, so I wouldn't booty it back on there w/ more epoxy...... Time for a replacement.

Thanks, Chuck. I think you're right. As I suspected also - I think the post is broken off. Wouldn't have a new post to spare would ya?

No worries. You've already contributed a lot of life to my pig. The mirrors are beautiful! And the hood is still sitting in my garage -but I have a body/paint friend who is going to help me soon. Your build is looking great. I love the doors!
Keep me posted.

what year is yours?

Lou

Lou,

My truck is a '72, but the wipers seem like they might be the later style b/c they to not attach with the visible nut on the arm, the nut is hidden under the smooth metal top. Sound right to you? Seems weird that the wiper setup would have been completely updated in this truck. In any case they are different posts I believe. Any ideas?

sounds more like your truck is a 71 or earlier; they had the metal cover over the nut; you might try cruiserparts.net, they were parting out several pigs...............good luck,

Lou

VIN is November '71, doesn't that qualify as a 1972 55? Anyone else out there have a passenger post for a 71/72 that they could spare? One wiper doesn't really cut it.
