Hi Everyone,

I just installed a new wiper motor.

Interestingly enough when the housing bolts are all installed the wiper linkage will catch on the bolt(s) in either the upper left (see image) or bottom left. I cannot see that anything is bent or installed improperly. I fixed this by placed a washer behind the bolts in those two places.

Second - the wipers park higher than the lowest point they reach during operation. Moving the wiper arms parallel to the windshield just results in them going even lower, past the windshield bottom. I'm looking to correct this. I used the motor arm off of my old motor so everything should be the same length there.

The bolts should be 10 mm long; they may have been replaced at some point by more common 12 or 14 mm-long bolts.

The FSM describes how to park the motor as part of bench testing. With the motor parked, you attach the arm with the wipers in their rest position.

Good point on the bolts; they do measure 10mm with my caliper so something must be bent or off.

RE parking. I followed the guidance on BE-25 in the Heavy Duty Repair Manual (Chassis and Body). The wipers park parallel but still dip down slighly below the windshield beforehand. I'll tweak them up slightly - I do not recall but is parallel the true parking position?

I just do not see how this is right. If I move the wiper arm such that it does not descend below the windshield, it will obstruct my view and be far from parallel when in the park position.

Hopefully this video link to my iCloud account works:

I had my Eureka moment; it was necessary to adjust the arm that fits on the motor shaft further. No shortcuts by just adjusting the wiper arms! This ordeal is over.
