Hey Guys,

Has anybody ever sourced a replacement for the chrome trim that goes around the groove in the windsheild rubber weatherstripping?

Local Toyota dealer says their obsolete and ENS can get them but they would have to order them from different corners of the world.

Looks like just a little c channel, but they were completely mangled by the bodyshop removing my windsheild. My corners are still OK, just the straight sections I need. Should be a common part...truck in need is an 87 BJ70.

Thanks
D

you might be able to find the right width welting at a local glass shop. Or maybe in a catalogue.

Somehow I doubt you will be able to find it in chrome. Most likely black,

The 60 series guys switch out this stuff once and awhile.

Actually I suggest you post up in the parts wanted area. Lumpy70 is parting a BJ70 right now, I am sure you could get that. Trouble is, it is very hard to remove with out damage.

They are hard to come by because they were discontinued in the late 80's. My suggestion (although maybe not that practal for you at this piont) replace the window gasket with the one that does not have the grove for the chrome piece, this is the same gasket just the newer model that did not have the chrome.

I know not that practical, sorry. I went looking for the chrome pieces several years ago and gave up, and trust me when I say I have contact all over the world.

Cheers,

Michael

Hmmm, the rubber is being sent over to me from ENS. They said they did not have the one for the BJ70 but that the one from their mine trucks would fit.....perhaps that means it is the non-trim version?

I do like the bling-factor of the trim though! I could probably simulate this with some stick-on junk from crappy tire.

I have found I can remove windows with out removing the chrome strip. And re-install. So it would make sense that a rubber gasket with out this might just be a little more difficult to pop in and out, but still work.

I'd rather not have the rings myself.
