If you've taken the chrome insert out, then you know how difficult it must be. Maybe do the corners first, using popsickle sticks as props to open up the recess, and some heat on the rubber? Ease the chrome insert into the corner, use a wide blade putty knife on the straight sections.
Ugh, leaning across the hood to work the windshield is not fun.
 
Hi I just did that recently! Not as bad as expected. I had new chrome moldings and new windscreen rubber. I simply put on a lot af dish wash soup on the rubber and from the corners pushed the chrome strips in. Note - make sure that there is plenty og soup on the rubber :)

The worst one for me was the bottom on - but it was possible. At the end I mounted the corners. The upper ones went on easy. The bottom corner ones was a struggle. It took longer time than the rest in total. Maybe there is some photos in my build topic on this forum.
