Looking to replace my windshield in my 1999 landcruiser. looks like I will need side moldings, left and right, along with the top molding. 8 rivets as well. Is it cruicial to replace all the moldings/rivets? looking online at toyota parts overstock for the moldings. what about the windshield itself to be sourced from? Thanks

Yes, you need to replace the moldings and with rivets or you will get leaks down the A pillar that will go into your cabin and mess up the computer/ electronics. DO NOT let them use screws and try to convince you they can do that. Tons of threads online and on fb groups about how people had to deal with the aftermath and also rust situation that develops when not done properly. I got my car and noticed moldings missing and screws used by previous owners shop. Some screws also missing. Took off the first molding (top layer was completely missing that goes on and ends up covering the rivets) and then was glad to not find rust under, cleaned the area, applied por15 inside that channel. Redid it myself with old moldings and rivets from toyota and a $15 rivet gun as windshield companies in toronto didn't want to do with rivets and complaint they can't get rivet gun (cost me $15 from amazon). Bought new outer layer molding also and covered up my properly done rivets. Applied a bit of black rtv silicone to side of them also. I never had leaks but it was just a matter of time. I also bought brand new all moldings for windshield but they are on shelf as i was for now able to reuse old ones. You will need double sided 3M tape to reply old one on top part of roof. The part that is down the windshield A pillar will get the 4 rivets in it (i think it is 4). You can look up part numbers for your's all on Partsouq website. Put in your VIN and it will show you all the moldings. It's also where i ordered from as they were muchhhhh cheaper than any place in USA or Canada. I have 99 LX470 fyi.
