As you already know our 250-series windshields are prone to impact damage.
Up to now I’ve been lucky that the impacts did no crack the glass.
Most recent trip picked up a rock that cause a small crack, under 1/4 inch end-to-end. Leaving it alone was taking my chances. Getting it repaired with a normal repair where they pull vacuum on the inside to draw in the adhesive was not a good option as I have heat-rejecting ceramic tint on the inside of the windshield.
So, I decided to take my chances with one of the home-use kits that push the adhesive resin into the crack from the outside. I had low hopes, but must share I’m impressed with the result for my $9 investment (Walmart).
Pictures were an afterthought, the picture showing the crack was one I took with the cell phone to affirm I had the tool centered properly. After repair you can see the shadow of the repair easier than the actual repair in the glass.
I’ve now added a repair kit into my truck for an instant repair when on the road if needed. Took all of ~25 minutes inclusive of watching a YT video and reading the instructions a couple times.
