Windshield Installer for 80 series near Vancouver

Can anyone recommend a shop or installer of auto glass that is knowledgeable of 80 series Land cruisers? Mine has recently sprung a leak and I think I'm going to replace it since it is also pitted from 20 years of driving.

From the threads on 80 series replacement glass, it seems the seal needs to be glued to the glass, then glued to the frame and a lot of shops wont do this because it's hard.

I would phone three reputable windshield installers to see what they say. They guarantee their work so they should do it right the first time

I agree with Glenn, though i would add the caveat that you may be told "we know how to install a windshield", then they won't glue it in (as was my experience). I suggest telling them that you insist that it be glued in properly, and you won't accept anything less. The shop that did my last one had the pleasure of installing it twice because they didn't glue it in as they had been asked. It leaked in the first block.

That was when i got the "we know how to install a windshield" comment (right, so why the hell did it leak then?). I was told by a friend who works at a different glass shop that its not common practice to glue them in in the industry, that's why I think you really have to push it.

May not be relevent as I didn't ask them to glue my windshield but my Subi windshield was installed without any leak issues a year ago from Brians' Glass here in Abbotsford.

Speedy glass in Courtenay told me they could do it, had done 80 series before(properly), but wouldn't guarantee it. I took it in and they told me because it's the original windshield(amazing really) with a couple small chips, it probably wouldn't survive the process. Also if it broke during repairs the windshield isn't covered by insurance.
However he ran a bead of sealant outside around both sides of the gasket, cleaned my truck and gave it back free of charge. No leaks yet, and great customer service.
I do have a spare oem gasket at home now though....
