So I know this has been beat to death. But I have got my winch choice between a 8274 or a 9.5ti. I have looked over the stats and at 9,500 lbs the 9.5 has an amp draw of 425 (the 8k lbs amp draw is 370) but the 8274 has an amp draw of 480 :frown: at 8k lbs. My main question is would the 9.5ti be better for my truck (an 89' hilux) since it has a stock alternator that puts out 75 amps? I can't upgrade to a bigger alternator because of cost. My battery has a old crank at 0*f of 525 and 630 at 32*f.

I would double check your alternator voltage, most of that era are only rated at 60 amps.

The 9.5ti is a lot lighter and lower profile. The 8274 is like the Land Cruiser of winches, there rock solid and classic, but heavy. However the 8274 and the 9.5 have different mounting setups. I don't know what kind of bumper you have, but look into that as well.

Your going to have to upgrade your battery or better yet, run a dual battery set-up and save your starting battery.

I didn't mean to put stock. Had to buy a new alternator that puts out 75 amps plus it has ac and is an auto. And as for the bumper I'm building one so ill build it to the winch that I get
