A guy is selling a rebuilt SM465 transmission. It is a 16 spline and about 2" long. Will this work with my 350V. Another one is a fine spline (much more than 16 splines) and the spline is longer but is not rebuilt. What is the correct spline? Thanks

    Hi All:

IIRC the 4wd version SM465 was a 10 spline output shaft, and is usually the version found swapped-into Land Cruisers. The 2wd SM465 has a 27 spline output shaft, but can be adapted via an Advance Adaptors "spud shaft" adaptor.

    Regards,

    Alan

There are three versions of the sm465 that I know of.
One version is the old school 4x4 10spline output that bolts to a 205. I've had two of these in my cruiser...both with np205s attached.

Another version is the mid 80s 4x4 with a fine spline output (sorry can't remember exactly but it bolts to a NP208) Friend of mine has one in his 1985 chevy pickup.

The other one is the 2x4 version. I think it was a 32 spline output. I definitely remember cutting the output with a hacksaw to fit my adapter about 11 years ago when I didn't have power tools and lived in an apartment complex:frown:

The 27 spline should be the one that goes to a turbo 350.

There is also one for the turbo 400 and the np203...just can't remember the info on those.
