Wife was carefully parking the ride in the garage today...and sideswiped the garage on the driver side. The result was a dislodged driver's side rear door and DS rear fender flare removal, with all but one of the plastic push-in tabs broken. The bracket on the door was bent, and would not allow the flare to sit flush. Any idea where I can get the plastic snap in brackets? I've already found the touch up paint and stucco for the house.

Thanks!

Great excuse to take all Fender flares off get the side line-Xed and tell the wife it's her fault.

Anytime a mod can be done and blamed on the wife one should take advantage of said situation. :D

LOL..thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention it, but earlier this WEEK she hit the lawn mower on the PS. It broke one of the tabs off of the PS front corner piece. As a result, i was 'forced' to take delivery of a Winch-capable ARB bullbar from 4wheelparts on Thursday ;)

Strange, i know..but she's been driving it for the past two years now, with NO issues with the lift and tires.. Not sure why she scrubbed TWICE, let alone in the same week!

As for the fender flares, I did download and save as many of the pics of fenderless 80s a few months back. I think it looks streamlined, but I can't pull the trigger yet on that mod!

EDIT: FORGOT TO MENTION: on the rear most flare, one of the brackets that holds one of the plastic nubs that snaps into the body also broke off. The break was clean, but i'd like to glue it back in place. Any recommendations for glue, or reattachement method? Bah, enough with these lame descriptions...i'll take some pics.

here's the broken tab. the break was pretty clean, sheared right off.

the corresponding wall damage. Hard to make out, but there's a golfball sized divot:

And last week's action:

And my remedy:

I ripped a RF flare off about 3 of years ago. It ripped about 3 of the plastic slots off flare. I used epoxy to glue them back on, I think I got it at HD, but most hw stores should have it. It was the kind that comes in the double-barreled syringe package, squirt it out and you get equal doses of the epoxy and the hardener. I used a lot of the epoxy to glue it on. Be sure to lean the flare and the piece that is ripped off, I think I cleaned it with 409 or something to remove the dirt, then rubbing alcohol. It's held for about 3years now with no problems. I had to replace the rubber seal where the flare meets the body as well. You may have to loosen the studs in the fender to get the flares back on.

hth

Super glue worked for me with the cleanly broken off nub off of the passenger side rear flare on the door. That was after I ordered 4 brand new ones. (So the new ones are just spares for now) I've been riding like this for about a month.

BUT if brackets are broken, I'd use epoxy.

lol..or putting something in the water!

I had some boulders help me with my decision to remove flares (and body panels).

You're going to need more than just a little touch-up paint for your flares ;)

Luckily your 96 doesn't have fiberglass flares -- those fun aprox 300 each to replace.

With all the work involved with sanding, painting, etc.
IMO, it's more cost effective to remove all the flares, sell them to people who need them here...
and get everything line-x'd for what you'd make from selling a couple flares. The rest of the profit goes into the front bumper fund...since she apparently scraped that too :D

I just installed the ARB bullbar this weekend. Pretty simple, the only problem was the rear most DS fixed nut on the frame broke loose. Trying to needle nose it thru the 1.5" diameter circle was a big pain in the ass.

I ordered the plastic tabs to re-install the flare this week; $3 each. The paint, well...I won't worry about that so much ;)
