So, what's the best method to widen the fenders on an M101CDN? Is it easiest to just scrap the stock ones and bend news ones to fit the mounts? I opted for hub adapters to run FJ Cruiser wheels and now the wheels stick way out.

Start with a fresh set, made to cover the wheels. How much did the spacers add?...mine only added 1-1/2 on each side.
Here are some pics that show the fenders I had made for our M101. It's running FJ60 wheels. They are roughly 4" wider than stock. The inside has about the same arrangement as stock, so they bolt right on. The outside has a little wider lip that is reinforced, so they are as strong or stronger than stock. They are 16 gauge steel.
