So... be warned - this is for looks, not function
. My 80 isn't being used for any serious off-roading, and I want the wheels to sit a little closer to the outer edge of the fenders. I need to keep them inside of the edge though.
I am about to buy a set of 255/85-16's on 7x16 steel rims because I like the tall skinny look.
My stock toyota 8x16 rims with 275/70-16 are already 28mm and 45mm away from the edge (front/rear respectively), so going down to 7" wide rims isn't going to help my case here.
With ET-30 on the front, the wheel will be 17,3mm closer to the edge. ~10mm to spare, which should be ok.
ET-50 on the rear will move the wheel 37,3mm closer to the edge - that's just some 7mm to spare.. not sure if it's enough.
The alternative is to go with a set of spacers, but as I'm buying new rims anyway - I think it's better to avoid the spacers?
Anyone got ET-50 on their cruiser? I know it's affecting the hub bearings, but to what extent? 90% of the time I'm on paved roads, and the last 10% would be unpaved mountain roads and that occational parking outside the road where nobody else can park
