 Why is this chapter so dead? Please forgive my ignorance, but I am a TLCA member for a year now and really was excited to join up. I still love TLCA but it seems this chapter is ... well. .... non existant. Is there anything that can be done to breathe life into it?

There have been various attempts to get the club back together. There are a lot of reasons why it doesn't go.

Lots of variations of Cruiser ownership. 40 resto guys, 80 series owners, FJC owners and hard core wheelers are pretty diverse in what they do with their trucks.

Lots of area between owners. It often takes and hour or more to get together with the group.

The biggest reason is the internet. All the things the clubs do can be done here without the enormous time commitment that always seems to fall in the hands of a few that eventually get pissed about it. Wanna have a picnic? Lets have a picnic. Wanna go wheelin'? lets shoot folks a PM and go. We can have a small group of hard core rigs or we can try to get everybody and their brother to show up. Wanna tech day? let's do it.

And no damn politics. No cliques. No elections for office that nobody wants to do, but they don't want THAT guy to do it. The national politics scene really helped kill WCLC the first time. People wanted to be big players on the national scene so they ran for office.

Anybody who thinks they can make a difference is welcome to the box of crap in my basement. The last president gave it to me when he disbanded the club. He embezzled the most valuable part, the domain name, but I have the rest.

The last meetings were rather sad. two people showed up to the last official WCLC. 4 or 5 to each of the "getting it back going" meetings. People wanted a club, but not any of the work that goes with it.

We got a club. It's right here. We can even print t-shirts. We just don't have officers or events.

The lack of activity here is a good barometer for what you'd get if you had a physical club. If you, or anybody would like to be appointed president, I'm all for it. In fact, if you kept it as virtual as possible, it might even fly.

Thanks Gumby. I apologize if I unknowingly stirred up some bad memories for you. I had no idea there was that much politic involved. I just wanted more community, but as you said, a club is not needed for that.

Thanks again for the reply.

we might get a good indicator at the cliffs toyota jambo in July, on what the local toyota scene is like. but it will only be the first year so it might be small but I think I already have about 15-20 "im ins" and we are still 2 months out and the threads on the event are DEAD still.

I'd be up for regualr cruiser gatherings and wheeling events, although I'm in agreement with Todd in staying away from the traditional club politics and formalities. It will take some time and effort, but we could get a regular group together easily.

I have not met anybody in northern ILL yet...but would be happy to go to a gathering...would love to go to the badlands or cliff but have issues of getting my 40 there..I'll keep my eye out on this post...BTW there is a 60 thats cruises down 14 past crystal lake I see every morning....wondering if anyone owns it on this site...

Thanks, Brian

Come to think of it, the last casual gathering was only about an hour plus from my home. Nothing is close in Il. Sad but true. The club thing seems to not be possible. I am in as long as I don't have to attend meetings, can hang when it works out, and can wheel when ever the time permits....

I think the closets thing to a club has been Gumby and the guys doing projects at his shop and some wheelin at the Cliffs and the Badlands.

I am not sure why it doesn't work in IL, but it hasn't for quite some time.

Let's add "15th WCLC reunion" to your Cliff's event.
