AC evaporator box sits right over that area, if the drain line gets clogged, water can build up inside and leak out.

Helpful thread! Mice ate through the rubber firewall drain fitting and I had a river running down the passenger side floorboards on a sunny July day. Replaced it with garden hose and a hose clamp; now draining to the outdoors again. Cheers!
