In 98 I bought my 1st for me new vehicle, a 98 4 Runner and the dealer took 6 g’s right off the top. I lived in the mountains of WV and worked as a phone guy. In 06 I was stricken with stage 4 cancer, I had my 30 years in and the writing was on the wall to move to the OBX. Well never do that on a Friday the 13th. Over halfway there we were stopped at a light and was rear ended by fellow doing about 60. After ripping the panels off the rear wheels with a crowbar we strapped everything back down, cruise control at 60 like nothing ever happened. That was one tough truck so there was never another vehicle on my mind except a Yota and happened along my 2000 LC a few weeks later.
I bought Myrtle with 117k and now have 220k. She lives mostly on the beach so fluid film is her best friend but would not hesitate to drive her to the west coast tonight. We’ve gone up into Canada 3 outta the last 4 years camping. Wish I had a few extra bucks so I could find another rust free LC........if the good lord will let me hang around a few more years I might just head out west searching fo another

Bought my 100 series because it was a natural progression for me. I had 40 then a 60 then a 80 then a 100 then a 200, you see where this is going? ha (still own all but a 60 series)..

I bought my 99 LC to replace the 85 crown vic station wagon that I sold under the "cash for clunkers" program. I wanted something, like the station wagon, that could carry a sheet of plywood, and I needed something big enough to take me and my telescopes out to the mountains and deserts to find some dark skies.

I had taken the crown vic on numerous dirt roads - often to the chagrin of dirt bikers who ended up at the same destinations wanting to feel adventurous - only to find a family station wagon already parked there. The Land Cruiser, I figured, was a more reasonable vehicle for these trips. I have always felt that the Land Cruiser is most at home when on a dirt road, just going "bumpity bumpity". Perfect for my needs.
