Whoops, that's not right!

Had a rumble and noise in my truck under load, so I thought I should check it out. Changed the rear diff fluid while I was down there (been 7 years at least with that fluid, so why not).

Then I discovered this... whoops

I was amazed at how quiet my truck is now after tightening that up (lock washers were completely flat, installed new ones) and putting in new gear fluid!

Lucky it didn't oval out the stud hole. Glad all is good. Avenue Machinery on Sumas Hwy has the real good lock washers - the ones that are sprung steal and convex. They hold very well and do not cut into softer metal.

I would use factory washers (special ones) and torques and you will never have a problem henceforth.

that's happen to me a couple of times. new lock washers and locktight and check it regularly like tire pressure.
