Hey Guys,
I will be driving up to Whitehorse, Yukon in a few weeks and wondering if anyone has made the trip. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best route in terms of speed as time is a bit of a factor.

Going to hit Prince George on the first stop then heading via the Cariboo Hwy(97N) then the Alaska hwy, anyone have any better recommendations for routes?

Also if anyone needs a "mudship" for parts on my way back from the Yukon I might have some room.

Thanks Justin

I have made the trip several times...usually take the Stuart-Cassiar route versus the Alaska Highway. Using the Stuart-Cassiar route, Prince George to Whitehorse is about 22 hours...Vancouver to Prince George is about 9 hours...add a bunch more time if you're in a 40 series:steer:

Either way, it is an incredible trip!!

Ive made the drive more times thatn I can count. I'd go Cassier one way and the Alaska the other. Check out the signpost forest in Watson Lake. The drive is amazing.

Thanks guys for the all the tips.

If we end up through Chetwynd I'll PM ya Dan, beers will be on me.

Thanks Cam for the info, also bringing my Fly-rods.

Rumrum that is one hell of an iron butt you got doing that in a 40.

Thanks again for the pointers,

J.

Hey Jay...

A little off topic but there is a Garrett T3 turbo on craigslist vancouver. New in box. The guy said he was going to put it on his cruiser but didn't. Just a heads up incase you want your "B" to fly.

A/R ratios seem a little different than mine but worth checking out.

amazing country in northern bc....i only went as far as the liard hotsprings and toad river....awesome place to take a trip, if you can get off the hwy and check out some of the old mining roads...see some awesome scenery up that way

Oh yeah... I forgot about Liard hot springs. They are worth a visit as they are beautiful and not "overly touristed". One walks in on a boardwalk that floats over the permafrost. The ponds are still fairly natural without too much human interference.

Now on my way back down from the North just chilling out in Whitehorse. I managed to get all the way to Kluane Park just north of Haines Junction, Yukon. Did some fly fishing up on a few rivers in Kluane Park, caught only a few small guys, mainly rainbow trout and arctic grayling and also managed to get a bit stuck in a snow storm but all is good now.

Thanks for the tips, the Laird Springs were awesome, the beta pool is currently closed but the alpha pool was still open, lots of "watch for bear" signs as three guys got killed in a bear attack a few years back around the same time. Also saw a large bison heard on the highway on the way to Watson Lake.

Toad river was also a great place, great hat collection on the ceiling and some sweet buffalo burgers for lunch.

All around a great time, the North is a beautiful place can't wait to come back.

Thanks again for the recommendations.
