Hey everyone
This is all getting a bit confusing and complex for me as there is so many choices! Thing is.....
I'm going to convert my 2003 78 TroopCarrier to a high output HD-FTE engine (idea is 300+HP and plenty of torque on the wheel) with a ZF8HP70x 8speed auto transmission! Those parts are fixed no matter what people are think about them as I have them already and really want to give it a go! The truck will be mostly used as I always have, a Overlander and daily driver with some towing and moderate off road use.
My Question is which transfer case to use!? Further i'm thinking about an airlocker in the front diff and a Torsen rear diff to safely get the power on the ground.
The Transfer case will need to be the same bolt pattern/fit as the HF2A as the adapter plate for the 8 speed auto is made for just that. Does the late model (2016-2025) HF1A fit? It should be a great way to go as it is made for the V8. Am I thinking in the right track or am I completly off? What's your five cents regarding this?
Many thanks for any feedback in advance!

I believe I would need some feedback from someone in Aussie here! If I understand that right the last HDJ78 & 79 had HF1A part time transfer cases is that correct and if so how are those switched to 4WD? And the HDJ modells where never build with HF2A Transfer cases_ Locking hubs and a H4 switch at the transfer case? Apparently these case are very strong. Many thanks for any feedback!

Yes you want an HF1A, that is not a vacuum actuated tcase. You do not want the vacuum tcase, it is weaker.

Cheers
Thanks a lot! Do you have the part number for the stronger one by any chance? Absolutely love your work by the way!
